First View of Casay

First thing to worry is money. How can we earn a living there? Business? What are we good at? For 8 years, my husband and I worked as Engineers for the same company. Honestly, I don’t imagine there would be any jobs waiting for us when we go back. Plus, one of the reasons we’re moving away from engineering is the stress!  The answer to these questions actually walked right in front of us, literally. While he was looking for a beach front property in Dalaguete, someone approached him to convince him to buy this land in Casay. She mentioned that the property has full grown mangoes and coconut trees. Farming. We got real excited about this, this is something we can see ourselves in. With everybody wanting to help the current state of the environment, I think this is also one noble thing to do. Farming, the natural way. Yep, we were sold with the idea.

With the tax return we got this year, we bought our first land in Casay. It’s  a 2000 sqm lot located along Cebu’s national highway and about a quarter of a mile from Argao Beach Club.

I’m really glad how things are moving.  Just this January, we decided to live simply. Now, we had our first major step towards that goal. There are so many next steps to follow: get the final land title, purchase the seedlings, plant the fruit trees, irrigation systems,  you name it! there’s still a lot to do but we’ll take it one step at a time.

My mother and her sibling grew up in the Poblacion, Dalaguete and all of my cousins grew up there also…first time I’ve been to Argao Beach Club was in 1980…water was clear blue or clear blue-green…the sand was white but it wasn’t powdered sand…since then my family kept going to Argao Beach Club…the last time I was there was Feb 2009…this place needs remodeling badly…but didn’t stop people from coming…most of the people aren’t even local…mostly from other towns or cities…next time I’ll be in Argao Beach club will be this coming March 2010.

hi jane! thanks for visiting my site. My husband frequents Mantalongon (maybe he knows your family =) ) and he’s trying to get into fresh produce. Hopefully we can build a real business and we can also give back to Cebu. It’s great to hear from a fellow investor and someone keen in seeing the rest of Cebu progress as well. Please let us know how your ventures work out as well. Thanks.
